When eSports was announced as a medal sport at the SEA Games next year, it opened up an avenue for Malaysian eSports players to prove that they can compete at the regional level.
The SEA Games 2019, which will be held in the Philippines, will feature six gold medals on three platforms — two each for console, mobile and PC.
Games that will be featured include Starcraft 2, Defence of the Ancients 2 (Dota 2), Tekken 7, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and Arena of Valor with the sixth title yet to be announced.
A national league will be organised next year as part of the selection process for the SEA Games 2019 eSports squad.
Since the Malaysian gaming community is no stranger to these games, especially Dota 2 and Mobile Legends, the national league will be an ideal platform for them to show their abilities.
