The Philippines is set to reopen its borders. The Southeast Asia nation will allow business travelers and tourists to begin entering the country on Thursday, Feb. 10.
After being closed for roughly a year to foreigners, the country is being reopened to its primary tourism markets. That includes the United States, United Kingdom, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, South Korea, Germany and Canada. China remains on hold.
Travelers from the countries listed above can enter the Philippines, visa-free, so long as they present a negative result from a COVID-19 RT-PCR test conducted within 48 hours prior to departure.
All inbound travelers must also be fully vaccinated and present valid certifications from their home countries. Foreigners entering the Philippines are encouraged to purchase travel insurance that covers at least $35,000 worth of medical expenses.
Manila is relaxing its mandatory quarantine for international guests, but the country is asking such travelers to self-monitor for symptoms 7 days after arrival and report any signs of the virus to local authorities.
The Philippines allowing foreigners to return should finally help boost business at the four integrated resorts in Manila. The government continues to limit the indoor occupancy of City of Dreams, Okada, Solaire, and Resorts World — though the mandate is rather moot, as there simply hasn’t been enough demand for the casinos to come anywhere near their government-imposed capacity restrictions.
