Despite being out for injury for a little over a month, Charlotte Hornet’s Lamelo Ball is still the frontrunner for the ROY award. The Hornets team has recently announced that the ROY frontrunner will be returning very soon, as per SLAM online:

The star rookie has been doing consistent individual sessions working himself up to team drills which will formulate a scheduled return to game action. If there are no setbacks, Ball could return for one or both of the games of a back-to-back set this weekend against the Detroit Pistons and Miami Heat

On what this may possibly mean for Lamelo’s campaign for the rookie of the year title:

LaMelo’s return may bring back some storylines surrounding the NBA’s Rookie of the Year Award. Before the injury, Melo was running away from his competition, Minnesota’s number one pick, Anthony Edwards. Ball is averaging 15.9 points per game, 6.1 assists and 5.9 rebounds.
