NBA 2020 – 2021 West Conference Finals

NBA 2020 - 2021 West Conference Finals

Atlanta Hawks vs Philadelphia 76ers, Phoenix Suns vs Los Angeles Clippers. The Playoffs are reaching its peak.

After a dramatic playoff, no less due to the frequency of injuries to many team’s star players, the playoff is slowly drawing to its conclusion. The West and East conference final two teams are set, and the winners of both series will face off against each other for the grand finale showdown.

Injury-riddled Playoffs

Due to the shortened off season in between NBA seasons 2019 – 2020 and 2020-2021, it has been said that many players have not managed to receive a proper amount of rest, this is the primary attribute to all the injuries. Going further from here, the NBA may also revise its schedule and remove back-to-back schedules altogether, which will be a dramatic change for the league and can have many implications.

Some of the major injuries going into the playoffs includes:

  • Jamal Murray (Denver Nuggets): 21.2 PPG, 4.8 APG, 4.0 RPG
  • Kawhi Leonard (Los Angeles Clippers): 24.8 PPG, 5.2 APG, 6.5 RPG
  • Jaylen Brown (Boston Celtics): 24.7 PPG, 3.4 APG, 6.0 RPG
  • James Harden (Houston Rockets): 24.6 PPG, 10.8 APG, 7.9 RPG

Los Angeles Clippers vs Phoenix Suns

In an unexpected turnout of events, Phoenix Suns floor general Chris Paul has been out due to Covid-19 protocols. However, reports does indicate that he will be returning at some point in the series.

The good news is that this does not spell the end for the Suns because Los Angeles star Kawhi Leonard is out with a high ankle sprain as well. Meanwhile, teammates like Paul George has been stepping up to the task and has been instrumental to Los Angeles Clipper’s Game 5 & 6 takedown of the Utah Jazz, even without Kawhi Leonard.

Phoenix has taken one game off of Los Angeles Clippers with the future Superstar young core of Devin Booker + DeAndre Ayton, the future seems bright for the franchise from here on. One way or another, we will have one of two franchises that have not graced the finals since the start of the franchise entering the NBA 2020-2021 NBA Finals.

Series Odds Los Angeles Clippers vs Phoenix Suns

As it is, most NBA Analysts picks Phoenix Suns as the likely winner of the series, in 6 games, some excerpts:

Reiter’s: Chris Paul has found in this young Phoenix team the opus for his potential masterpiece, and the Kawhi-less Clippers, that Utah comeback notwithstanding, won’t pose enough of a challenge once CP3 is back… Phoenix will marshal the same energy and surety under pressure that got them here to keep it rolling. Pick: Suns in six

Quinn’s: It was a valiant effort for the Clippers to get here without Kawhi Leonard, but at the moment, it seems as though he’ll be out longer than Chris Paul… Devin Booker can pick up the shot-creation load… The injuries make this the least predictable conference finals series in quite some time, but I’d lean Phoenix slightly. Pick: Suns in six
